Use the zip code where it happened

Navigating the market prices can be a challenge, especially when there’s a noticeable price difference between areas. In some cases, you find yourself crossing lines just to get the materials you need. It’s interesting to see a 15% hike in prices in certain zones, making it tough when the job is in a more rural setting where material options are limited. Even if they deliver the materials, the increased cost is hard to justify, especially when the home is situated in a more affordable zip code.
It’s a dilemma—explaining away the cost difference becomes tricky. Opting for the zip code where the loss occurred seems to be the fairest approach. In instances where Atlanta prices are higher, and you’re servicing an area with lower costs, considering a trip charge might help balance the scales.
Ultimately, we adhere to the market prices determined by experts, even if it means playing by the rules when it doesn’t favor us, especially in regions where programs like work camps are in place. It’s about maintaining integrity and fairness in our practices.

Why Get Certified In Xactimate

Join Alena Wilson from Estimate Mastery LIVE Tuesday June 3rd at 4:30 CST/ 5:30 EST as she will be talking all about why you should get Certified in Xactimate. One of our FAQ’s here at Estimate Mastery is…do I need to be Certified to use Xactimate?
The answer is NO, for day to day estimating and getting around in the software, you don’t need any sort of certification to be able to write estimates in the software.
BUT, getting Certified is useful as leverage to getting line items paid.
We’ve had many, many contractors report back that when they added their Certification credentials to their email signature and few other key places like their company header, they were able to use the fact that they had been Certified to move their estimate “up the food chain” inside the insurance company and talk with someone who holds the same level of Cert. This is a Live you don’t want to miss!
