Tip #2 – Photos

💰 Pro Tip for High-Value Photos! 💰

To capture photos that could be worth thousands, develop a consistent approach every time you’re on-site. When training adjusters, I’d emphasize this routine: start with a shot of the front elevation, then work top-down—roof first, then around the exterior.

Here’s why it matters:

Roof inspection: Get up there and capture critical details—lift the shingles and snap photos of the drip edge, ice and water shield, starter strip, and gutter installation. Each detail shot can translate into thousands in line items!
Exterior shots: Go front, right, rear, left. These pics reveal collateral damage direction, wind or hail path, and more—essential for securing claims.

Why Get Certified In Xactimate

Join Alena Wilson from Estimate Mastery LIVE Tuesday June 3rd at 4:30 CST/ 5:30 EST as she will be talking all about why you should get Certified in Xactimate. One of our FAQ’s here at Estimate Mastery is
do I need to be Certified to use Xactimate?
The answer is NO, for day to day estimating and getting around in the software, you don’t need any sort of certification to be able to write estimates in the software.
BUT, getting Certified is useful as leverage to getting line items paid.
We’ve had many, many contractors report back that when they added their Certification credentials to their email signature and few other key places like their company header, they were able to use the fact that they had been Certified to move their estimate “up the food chain” inside the insurance company and talk with someone who holds the same level of Cert. This is a Live you don’t want to miss!
